Round table on social inclusion of children with special needs through art and culture

On 28 October 2016 the exhibition unveiling was followed by a Round Table on effective methods of social integration of children with special needs via art and culture, sharing of the best practices of  teaching them subjects of culture, local studies, ethnography and epic poems, and presentations of these topics in museum spaces.

The Round Table was hosted by the Russian Ethnographical Museum and got together around 50 people, among them pedagogues, artists, representatives of museums, academia society and NGOs from Russia, Finland and Estonia.

The program included presentations of the art curators from all three countries who had worked with young artists on the exhibition as well as teachers and experts from Saint Petersburg (Russian Ethnographical Museum , Leningrad Region University, the Institute of the Russian Literature, Herzen Pedagogical University etc. ) who are involved in education of children with special needs on a daily basis. Some of these teachers and experts had acted as the exhibition’s co-creators.

The participants were interested to get more detailed information about the Project and its results and highly appreciated the content of the Round Table.
